In 2014, the first ever collaborative, city-wide campaign for LGBT History Month in York was brought together mostly by two individuals at York St John University, with the help of LazenbyBrown. This year, a team of just four individuals coordinated a programme of 35 events from over 20 different organisers, which were attended by well over 1,000 people.
In order to keep growing and developing our work, we need more help. So we’re recruiting!
The level of involvement is flexible, but we meet roughly once a month, with a greater concentration of activity in the months leading up to February. The following positions are available:
- Secretary (planning and minuting our meetings, dealing with general queries and supporting communication);
- Treasurer (managing and keeping track of our finances);
- Fundraising Coordinator (exploring potential funding from organisations and the community);
- Publicity Coordinator (getting our message into the media by developing links and writing press releases);
- Social Media Coordinator (developing our social media presence and engagement);
- Volunteer Coordinator (recruiting and organising volunteers);
- assistant coordinators (supporting our organisation in any way you can).
If you’re interested in getting involved, come along to our next meeting on Tuesday 26 May at 18:00. The location is to be confirmed. Get in contact or keep an eye on our blog and social media profiles for the details.
If you can’t make the meeting but want to get involved, get in contact.
We look forward to working with you!
