The Looking Glass is the University of York’s creative writing anthology. It takes the best student fiction, poetry and drama and bundles it up into a book which is sold on campus and online every year.

This year, to coincide with York LGBT History Month 2015, they’ve teamed up with us for ‘The Looking Glass Creative Writing Competition for York LGBT History Month’! The competition, open to all students at the University of York, involves writing a work of fiction on the theme of LGBT history.

Submissions will be judged jointly by The Looking Glass and York LGBT History Month; the winner will be published and acknowledged as having won in the anthology.

The word limits are as follows:

  • poetry – 1500;
  • drama – 2000;
  • prose – 3000.

The deadline for entries is Saturday 28 February. Submissions must be emailed:

  • to;
  • from a University of York student email address;
  • with the subject ‘York LGBT History Submission’.
