National Festival of LGBT History 2017: hosted by York Explore!

We’re very pleased to announce that the National Festival of LGBT History will next year be hosted by York Explore Library!

On Saturday 11th February 2017, the Marriott Room at York Explore Library and Archive will play host to a fascinating variety of free talks on all aspects of LGBT history. Visitors can drop in throughout the day to discover hidden stories and forgotten heroes, and to find out about the other exciting events taking place throughout the month of February. Hot drinks, snacks and lunch will be available to purchase from the cafe. And if one of the talks sparks your interest and you’d like to read more about LGBT history, you’re in the right place!

Barbara Swinn, York Explore manager, says, “We are delighted to host the National Festival of LGBT history in 2017. We are proud that Explore  Libraries and Archives provide the opportunity for individuals and communities to understand and celebrate the diversity within our city.”

The deadline for giving talks as part of the National Festival has now passed, but we’re now putting together our month-long programme of events for February 2017 – click here if you’d like to organise something, or to find out more!
